Dads & Daughters

On Thursday I spoke with about 20 dads about their parenting experiences.
We talked about activities they can share with their daughters, how to be good male role models for girls, and the difficult topic of how to respond to daughters lovingly and with the right amount of rules and protection.

I came away impressed with these devoted dads, and also with a sense that it is not always easy being a dad of a daughter in modern times.
There doesn't seem to be a great deal of support (informal or formal) between men on how to parent effectively & compassionately.

If you are a dad, or know a dad of a girl, do you have any insights on 1) how to keep close to your daughter or 2) find support for yourself as a parent?

Do you have other men that you talk with about parenting issues?

Start of the school year

How is the start of the school year going for your daughter?
Any tips for handling homework loads, organization, de-compressing from the stress of the school day?
Post suggestions, insights, questions about school here.

How do you handle differences?

Are there differences between your family's rules (in terms of entertainment, toys, technology) and what your daughter's peers are allowed to do? Do you have any insights on how to handle this increasingly common issue effectively?
